System Shutdown

A proper InveStore system shutdown is critical to maintaining a valid system record for subsequent restarts of the system. If the system is not shutdown properly it will have a negative impact on recognition and access of volume sets in the storage library.

Note: If an improper shutdown should occur, see the Standard Recovery Procedure in the Help File section on Common Errors and Problems.

When InveStore has NOT been configured as a Windows Service you will use the following steps to properly shutdown the storage sub-system:

First choose the InveStore Shutdown icon from the Pegasus InveStore folder off the list of Programs on the Start menu. The following message is displayed, "The InveStore Kernel will be stopped". Press "OK" to begin the shutdown sequence.

You will hear activity in the storage library as media is placed back in its home slot position and cache files describing media location are updated.

Once this has completed you may then close out the InveStore MMC console.

When InveStore is configured as a Windows Service, open the Service screen from the Windows Control Panel and Administrative Tools, and Stop the InveStore service.

You will hear activity in the storage library as media is placed back in its home slot position and cache files describing media location are updated.

Once this has completed you may then close out the InveStore MMC console if open.
